Sitting on my bed, I ate my food I picked up from Jimmy’s polish. My condo wouldn’t be ready for a week, so I tried to stay in my room as much as possible. Monte had been telling me for a while to leave them alone, but I couldn’t open up to him about our history. I refused to. When you been through all of that with someone, it was hard to let them go. Hearing Lisa say she was in love with me blindsided the fuck out my ass. I never knew she even liked girls, but I guess that was why it was so easy for her to fuck over niggas. It was a knock at my door and I tensed up.

“Come in.” Lisa looked in the room and you could tell she was nervous.

“You got any food left? I’m starving.” Taking another bite, I nodded towards the stand.

“I didn’t know if you was here, but I bought you a polish. These mufuckas fye too. The fries fresh and they ain’t burn em.” She grabbed the bag and sat down on my bed with me. It felt like it did back in the day. We all were so close. Maybe we could go back to how we were if she stays like this, but it would be hard trying to forget her revelation.

“I remember the first time we found that spot. Our ass was lost as fuck trying to find that place for my car battery.” I thought about that day and laughed hard as hell. That was when I found out how much the Mexicans loved black women. I met a sexy one too, but we could barely understand each other, so I knew that shit wasn’t going to work out.

“The guy I was trying to mack on. I was telling him the battery and he changed the tire. I couldn’t understand him and he didn’t know what the fuck I was saying. That shit was so funny, but I wouldn’t have minded giving him this pussy.” Her ass went quiet, and I rolled my eyes in my head.

“That was the night you met Monte.” She sounded so depressed; the shit was sickening. Not knowing what to say, I kept eating my food. My phone ringing was like being saved by the bell. Grabbing it, I answered it quickly.

“Hey, LaDonna. What’s up?”

“We all going out to eat tonight. Domino planned some big ass date for Jamea downtown.
